-- Day-of-Service
Toiletry Gift Bag Drive
January 5 - 15, 2010
Latin School of Chicago
On January 18th,
we will hold Latin’s 9th annual Day-of-Service in honor of the
legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
As in past years, we will prepare and serve meals on this day to over
500 guests at Chicago’s Uptown Baptist Soup Kitchen. During the meal, we will supply entertainment, as well. Also, we will present these guests with
toiletry gift bags. Since there
are many items to collect for this drive we want to get the word out early in
case some members of our community would like to gather some of these over
break. Here is what we need for
the bags:
We
need at least 500 of each of the following items:
Toothbrushes
Soap
Disposable
Razors (Goal 1,500: 3 per bag)
Shaving Cream
Shampoo
Toothpaste
Deodorant
(Very important item)
Lotion
Socks (Very
important item: new, unused)
(All small to
mid-size containers, please-- no giant containers of lotion, shampoo,
etc.)
Starting on
January 5th, collection bins will be near the reception desks in the
LS and US, as well as in the MS office. It is our hope that everyone at Latin
will contribute to this toiletry gift bag project.
More information
will be coming out later regarding opportunities to volunteer to prepare the
toiletry bags, as well prepare and cook the meals. If you have any questions regarding the MLK Day-of-Service,
please call or email Tim Cronister at (312) 582-6469 or tcronister@latinschool.org Thanks!
