Annual Ellis Island Simulation Brings History to Life

On December 8th
Latin School second graders participated in their annual Ellis Island
simulation. Wearing clothes from many different parts of the world, the
students carried small sacks and suitcases filled with only their most
precious belongings, and spent the morning standing in lines,
undergoing mock physical examinations, being checked for lice, and
answering questions from surly immigration officials—played by parent
and faculty volunteers.
