FIELD PROJECT UPDATE
Dear Parents,
I
am pleased to report that construction of the athletic field in south
Lincoln Park is progressing, and if the weather cooperates, we expect
that the field will be available for use around the beginning of May.
Created
through a public/private partnership between the Chicago Park District
and Latin, the new field will provide many exciting athletic and
recreational opportunities for both our school community and our
community at-large. Latin students, along with athletes of all ages
from across Chicago, will soon have access to another safe,
well-maintained playing field.
During the last several months,
we have been in frequent contact with community groups, neighbors and
elected officials, communicating the details of the project. After
receiving feedback about the new field, we made several changes to our
original agreement with the Park District. Further, Alderman Vi Daley
(43rd Ward) recently issued a statement about the new field, writing
that the project is "an improvement for this area of Lincoln Park." You can read her statement in its entirety by visiting her Web site.
Latin
is continually seeking the chance to contribute to its larger community
and to enhance its offerings to students; the field project is an
undertaking that accomplishes both goals. Thank you for your support of
this important project.
For further information about the field project and updates on its construction, please visit Latin's Web site.
Best regards,
Don Firke
